In-depth study of NFPA requirements in Chapters 1 and 2. Course objectives include: How the 70E is structured for use; Understanding changes to the NFPA 70E 2021 edition; Understanding the requirements of an Electrical Safety Program (ESP); Training requirements for qualified and unqualified persons; Electrical hazards in the workplace: Shock and Arc Flash/Arc Blast; Establishing an Electrically Safe Work Condition (ESWC); Electrical equipment labeling; Shock and Arc flash PPE; Lockout/Tag Out practices; energized Electrical Work Permit; Work Related “At Risk” Behaviors. Practical exercises to develop Job Safety Analysis (JSA)/Job Hazard analysis (JHA); Proper selection, maintenance, testing, use and care of PPE; properly utilize LOTO requirements; how to estimate incident energy under field work conditions; Work involving electrical hazards-shock & arc flash risk assessments; Select and apply temporary grounds and specific equipment grounding hazards – touch and step potential. Attendees receive a workbook to follow the presentation and complete a proficiency exam at course end.
